Self-Care VS Self-Love.

Self-Care and Self-Love are both important aspects of personal well-being, but they differ in their purpose and focus. Lately, everywhere you look people are talking and writing about both. Everyone also attempts to practice some daily acts of self-care or self-love. Either way, whatever you do to increase your personal growth it is already a win.

Self-Care refers to the actions we take to maintain physical, emotional, and mental health. This can include things like getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and engaging in activities that bring us joy and relaxation. Self-Care is about meeting our basic needs and taking care of ourselves in a practical way.

Self-Love, on the other hand, is about cultivating a positive relationship with ourselves. It involves accepting ourselves for who we are, recognizing our strengths and weaknesses, and treating ourselves with compassion and kindness. Self-Love is about embracing our whole selves and valuing our own worth as human beings.

While Self-Care is an important part of Self-Love, they are not interchangeable. Self-Care is a practical approach to taking care of our physical, emotional, and mental needs, while Self-Love is a more holistic and emotional approach to developing a positive relationship with ourselves. Both Self-Care and Self-Love are important for maintaining overall well-being and leading a fulfilling life.

So with that, I challenge Parents to practice daily BOTH Self-Care and Self-Love. In order to be able to truly show up and be there for your children it is so important to be there for yourself FIRST. I am a testimony to putting my children's needs first above myself and above my marriage. Which ultimately led to depression and divorce. This took years for me to figure out and finally to be able to find happiness with myself and in my next marriage.

If you are a parent and especially a parent of a special needs child it would be my honor to help you develop a routine where you can consistently incorporate Self-Care and Self-Love into your daily routine. And yes, your children will be fine.
